ACCOMPANYING PROGRAM: 'WE WILL HAVE BEEN YOUNG'

This talk concerns the complex histories of photography and the photograph in Southeast Asia during the 20th and 21st centuries. Here, Dr. Amanda Katherine Rath situates this new medium of expression and world-making within colonial and postcolonial experiences of the region. Imperative to this discussion is the intimate relationship between photography and experiences of urban change and shifting visions of modernity.

The talk (appr. 40 min.) will be in English.
